Despite the great advances in the field of electronic health records (EHRs) over the past few decades, the adoption of EHRs is still minimal due to some challenges and barriers hindering the full implementation of Electronic Health Records. This review examines the barriers to the adoption of EHRs. Several keywords such as security, threat, electronic health records, privacy, and access control were used to scan three reliable databases such as PubMed, ScienceDirect and ResearchGate published from 2016-2021. Twenty journals were collected and analyzed and ten journals were extracted for the content on challenges, privacy concerns, and security threats of Electronic Health Records. ...
